Rituals

Rituals are the nectar to day to day life for me. The rituals that I infuse into my every day life help keep me connect to my true Self, and more grounded.

My morning ritual sets the tone for each day. I’m currently beginning each day with:

large mason jar of lemon water

lighting copal incense

20 min meditation

A daily check-in process that I learned from @caleyalyssa Sometimes I journal this, other times I just sit and have a conversation with myself:

  • Body: what are you feeling? What do you need?

  • Emotional Self: how are you feeling? What do you need?

  • Intellect:  What are you feeling? What do you need?

  • Spiritual Self:  how are you feeling? What do you need?

In checking in and asking my body what she needs, I am able to pay close attention to the feelings of depletion and soreness so that regardless of what exercise I may have had planned, I will pivot and opt for a walk outside. If my body is feeling good, strong, rested and ready to move, then I’ll stick with whatever movement I had planned for the day, or if I’m feeling spicy, I’ll kick it up a notch.

In checking in and asking my emotional self how I’m feeling and she’s feeling good, nourished, and fulfilled I will continue to nourish my connections. Connections with mySelf, connections with my husband. Connections with my friends. Connection with my family. When she’s not feeling so great, that often means I’m longing for a deeper connection with mySelf, my husband, or my family and friends.

In checking in with my spiritual Self and asking her how she’s feeling I’m able to discern if I’m connected to my heart. When I feel grounded, connected to my heart, I know I’m good. If I’m feeling disconnected to my true Self, anxious, reactive, and everything in between I know it’s time to S L O W down, likely meditate more, go inward and get quiet.

Turning all my energy inward and tuning in before I shift my energy outward for the day allows me to be in alignment with my true Self. To know what it is that I truly need, which sometimes isn’t what I had planned, and sometimes it is. Being able to know when the mind's plan needs to go right out the window and it’s time to adjust and get back into the flow state is where the blissful, expansive place to reside in exists.
